Measuring our contribution to environmental sustainability, community development, and economic growth through our innovative plastic recycling solutions.
Through our work, we're creating tangible environmental, social, and economic benefits while addressing plastic pollution and housing challenges in Tanzania.
Through these strategic initiatives, we're addressing plastic pollution while creating sustainable solutions for communities across Tanzania.
We've conducted and participated in 102 beach clean-ups, removing significant amounts of plastic waste from coastal areas while raising awareness about marine pollution. These events also serve as platforms for youth engagement through sports and environmental education.
We've established 7 waste collection hubs in coastal and urban areas to streamline the collection, sorting, and processing of plastic waste. These hubs are operated with the help of 35 waste pickers, 71% of whom are women.
We've converted over 2580 tons of plastic waste into eco-friendly building materials such as bricks, tiles, and WPC decking. These materials are used for low-cost construction, helping address the housing deficit in Tanzania.
We've constructed 8 sanitation units using eco-bricks in public schools, providing improved access to clean and dignified sanitation for 7,300 students. These facilities demonstrate the practical application of our sustainable building materials.
We've reached over 160,000 people through community events, exhibitions, media campaigns, and environmental education programs focused on plastic waste reduction and sustainable building practices.
We've initiated the design and construction of affordable housing units using eco-bricks and other recycled materials. These projects are energy-efficient and aligned with Tanzania's environmental codes.
A collaborative initiative focused on reducing plastic pollution along the Tanzanian shores of Lakes Victoria, Tanganyika, and Nyasa. In partnership with NORCE, EMEDO, and the University of Dar es Salaam, we led the collection, sorting, and recycling of plastic waste during clean-up campaigns across 60 shoreline sites.
Phase I of the project mobilized over 30,000 community members, creating a widespread movement for environmental conservation.
The project has removed more than 2580 tons of plastic waste, protecting vital freshwater ecosystems that millions depend on.
Data collected during the project is informing national policy decisions for freshwater protection and plastic waste management.

By collecting and recycling plastic waste, we're preventing it from reaching our oceans, harming marine life, and contaminating ecosystems. Each ton of plastic we recycle reduces carbon emissions compared to producing virgin plastic.
Removing plastic waste from beaches, rivers, and urban areas, preventing it from entering the ocean ecosystem.
Regular clean-ups have significantly reduced plastic pollution along Tanzania's beautiful coastlines and raised community awareness.
Strategic collection points ensure continuous plastic waste recovery even outside of organized clean-up events.
We're creating economic value from waste while providing affordable, durable building materials that help address Tanzania's housing challenges. Our model demonstrates that environmental solutions can be economically sustainable.
Our operations have created 35 waste picker positions and additional jobs in manufacturing and administration, supporting local economic development.
Our eco-friendly building materials offer sustainable and cost-effective alternatives for construction projects, helping address housing challenges.
By transforming waste into valuable products, we're demonstrating how circular economy principles can create sustainable economic opportunities.
Our work contributes directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, creating a more sustainable and equitable future through innovative plastic recycling solutions.
70% of our workforce are women, creating economic opportunities in communities.
Our building materials contribute to sustainable, affordable urban development.
We transform waste into resources, promoting circular economy principles.
Our processes reduce CO2 emissions and help communities adapt to climate change.
By preventing plastic waste from entering oceans, we protect marine ecosystems.

The milestones that have shaped our growth and impact
Arena Recycling was founded in Dar es Salaam with a mission to combat plastic pollution and promote sustainable construction. The team began experimenting with plastic recycling and eco-brick development.
Launched our first pilot project in partnership with the U.S. Embassy Tanzania, constructing 5 sanitation facilities using eco-bricks in Temeke District, improving access to clean and safe sanitation for local communities.
Secured partnerships for construction projects with organizations including the International Secretariat for Water. Joined prestigious incubator and accelerator programs such as Ocean Hub Africa, scaling both our impact and innovation capacity.
Partnered with NORCE and the University of Dar es Salaam to launch the Clean Shores Great Lakes Project, collecting plastic waste along the shores of Africa's Great Lakes and mobilizing over 30,000 people in environmental action.
Expanded our production facility in Dar es Salaam with the support of UNDP, increasing production capacity and job creation, while reaching a milestone of over 520 tons of plastic waste repurposed.
Partnered with TotalEnergies to establish smart plastic collection centers at fuel stations, making waste drop-off more accessible for communities and enhancing circular economy practices.
There are many ways you can help us expand our impact and create a cleaner, more sustainable future for Tanzania and beyond.
